Leadership as Transformation The holistic, interdisciplinary approach to leadership is on the cutting edge of higher education. It recognizes that the leaders needed by our society are those who can take a broad approach to change grounded in the arts and humanities. The interdisciplinary nature of the program offers a unique opportunity for professional collaboration. Most of the students are already working in responsible positions in their fields. Based on a cohort model, the program brings together a diverse group of learners who form a distinct learning community. The Doctor of Leadership is designed with working professionals in mind. By its nature, it is highly individualized with students working closely with faculty members and mentors to define and achieve their goals. The doctorate usually takes three to four years to complete with monthly weekend seminars at Franklin Pierce learning sites in Concord, Lebanon and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The rest of the coursework is done online. The final year of the program in spent in dissertation work. The power of transformational leadership is not power over others but the power of understanding oneself, the power of understanding other cultures and societies, and the power of understanding how to use leadership to inspire others to move beyond self interest to a greater societal good. Become an advocate for positive change - in your organization, in your community, in the world - and experience the power and excitement of transformational leadership. Goals
