FORT MYERS, FLA. (March 18, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce softball team split a pair of games today in Fort Myers, Florida, winning 5-4 against Richard Stockton and falling to Purdue-North Central, 5-3.

            Against Richard Stockton, senior captain Brooke Remington (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony) won the game for Franklin Pierce, driving in freshman Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre Wellington) with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

            Senior Michelle Derochers (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while junior Jessica Heaney (Greenport, N.Y./Greenport) went 2-3 at the plate with a run scored.

             Courtney Lemoie (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts in seven innings of work for the Ravens to earn the win.
            Lauren Genovese (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) went seven innings for the Ospreys, allowed five runs, two earned, on seven hits with eight walks and six strikeouts and took the loss.

Senior Michelle Derochers went 3-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored against Richard Stockton.

            The Panthers posted pairs of runs in the first and second which proved to be all they needed for the win as they defeated the Ravens, 5-3.

            Sophomore Ashley Milan (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) hit 1-3 with a double and two RBI for Franklin Pierce. Senior Lauren Chenausky (Royalston, Mass./Athol) went 2-4 with a double and a run scored, while Heaney was 2-3 with a run scored.            

            Junior Amy Torla (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) took the loss as she allowed five runs on 11 hits with one walk and two strikeouts in seven innings.

            Jill Kiemach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) went 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and picked up the win.

            Franklin Pierce (5-2-1) returns home on Monday to face Teikyo Post at 3 p.m.
