- The Franklin Pierce University
softball team picked up a
pair of wins defeating SUNY-Brockport 1-0 and Dordt College
5-1 in non-conference action at the 2002 Gene Cusic Classic
this evening. The win marks the Ravens third straight victory
in two days.
Sophomore Kalene Wotton (Westminster,
Mass./Oakmont) was exceptional from the mound as
she pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out five batters
in her second start of the season for the win.
Carolyn Hall (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson)
secured to what proved to be the gamewinning run in the
bottom of the first as she scored on a wild pitch.
SUNY-Brockport's Nanci Beanan was
the hardluck loser as she allowed five hits, struck out
two and walked two.

The Ravens completed
their sweep of this evening's games with a 5-1 win over
Dordt College.
FP
broke open the
scoring early, taking a one run lead in the top of the first.
Dordt was able to hold off the Ravens until the third inning,
when six consecutive bunts led to four FP
runs.
Hall hit one-for-two
and scored two runs, while newcomer Sonja Johnson
(Ashby, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) went one-for-four
and scored a run and drove in an RBI in the win.
Freshman Amy
Torla (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) earned her first
win of the season, as she allowed one earned run on four
hits, struck out two and walked one. Dordt's Ashley Schuller
allowed three earned runs on six hits, struck out seven
and walked two in six innings for the loss.
