- Freshman Courtney Lemoie (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln)
allowed just five hits in seven innings and struck out six
batters to lead Franklin Pierce University
to a 3-0 victory
over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 doubleheader
softball action at the FP
Softball Field this afternoon.
The win snaps a five-game losing
streak for the Ravens. Freshman Mary Reade (Groveland,
Mass./Pentuckett Reg.) led the FP
offense hitting
one-for-three with a pair of RBIs, while sophomore Brooke
Remington (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony) went 1-2
with a run scored.
Southern New Hampshire's Courtney
Cote hit a perfect 3-3 in game one.
FP
opened up the scoring in the
bottom of the third, as Remington was walked and later scored
on a passed ball to help the Ravens take the 1-0 advantage.
After two scoreless innings, the
Ravens tacked on two more runs as Reade belted a two-run
single to seal the 3-0 win.
Southern New Hampshire's Mel Keeler
allowed three runs, just one earned, on four hits, struck
out three and walked three for the loss.

rebounded from the loss in game one to post a 4-2 victory
in the nightcap. Keeler led the SNHU offense, as she went
2-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Danielle Jendrasko batted
2-3 with a run scored and Laura Cunningham hit 2-3 with
an RBI.
FP
was led by Julie
Haight (Fort Montgomery, N.Y./O'Neill) who went
3-4 with an RBI and Quinn Tremblay (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont)
who went 2-3, including a triple, with an RBI.
Southern New Hampshire
got on the board early, as Keeler belted a sacrifice fly
and brought home teammate Maggie Nugent to go up by one.
The Penwomen went on to take a two run advantage in the
top of the fourth when Keeler pounded a solo shot to lead
off the frame.
FP
finally answered
in the bottom of the fifth when Haight singled in Sonja
Johnson (Ashby, Mass./North Middlesex Regional)
to close the gap. SNHU added two more runs as Cunningham
knocked an RBI double and Jen Dupuis hit an RBI single to
help the Penwomen pull away for good.

hurler, Amy
Torla (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill), suffered the
loss as she allowed three earned runs on eight hits, struck
out one and walked none in six innings for work. Dupuis
improved to 6-9, as she allowed two runs, just one earned,
on seven hits, struck out one and walked two in a complete
game effort.

clinches the annual "101 Challenge" for the second straight
year. The Ravens defeated the Penmen by securing 11 wins
out of 18 match ups between the two schools this season.
