Shutout Wins Over FP
Sundburg tosses two-hitter in game
one to lead Dolphins, Smiel records four-hitter in game
two
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (April 27, 2002)
- Junior Marnie Sundberg tossed a two-hit shutout, striking
out 11 batters and walking just one in a complete game effort
to lead Le Moyne College to a 1-0 victory in Northeast-10
Conference doubleheader softball action this afternoon at
the Le Moyne College Softball Field.
Leading the Le Moyne offense was
Megan Vecchiano who hit a perfect three-for-three.
The teams battled through six innings
of scoreless softball, until Le Moyne's Janea Armstrong
scored the gamewinning run on an error by first base to
take the 1-0 lead.
FP
hurler, Amy Torla (Haverhill,
Mass./Haverhill) allowed no earned runs on five
hits, struck out three and walked one in seven innings of
work for the loss.

Le Moyne recorded
a 3-0 shutout in the nightcap to complete the doubleheader
sweep of FPC.
Emily Senko went 2-3,
including a solo homerun, with two RBIs and a run scored
to lead the Dolphins in game two. Lindsay
Connor also added a pair of hits in the win. Vecchiano batted
1-3, including a solo homer, with a run and an RBI for the
Dolphins.
Le Moyne's Sabrena
Smiel scattered just four hits and struck out five batters
in six innings of shutout softball for the win. Susan Sugar
allowed no hits in one inning of relief for the save.
FPC's Courtney
Lemoie (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) allowed three earned
runs on six hits, stuck out four and walked none in six
innings of work in the loss.
