From Bentley
Ravens post 6-2 victory in game one and
complete sweep with 4-3 win in game two
RINDGE, N.H. (April 17, 2002)
- The Franklin Pierce University
softball team recorded a 6-2
win in game one and a 4-3 win in game two over Bentley College
in Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader action at the FP
Softball Field this afternoon.
In game one, sophomore Quinn
Tremblay (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont) led the Ravens
offense hitting two-for-three including an RBI and a run
scored. Junior Carolyn Hall (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson)
and freshman Sonja Johnson (Ashby, Mass./North Middlesex
Regional) both went 2-4 with an RBI.
Bentley was led by freshman Lisa
Tisbert, who hit 2-3 with an RBI. Lauren Frasier and Marcie
Matthews both added a pair of hits for the Falcons.
FP
broke open the scoring in the
bottom of the second, as Jessica Heaney (Greenport,
N.Y./Greenport) and Julie Haight (Fort Montgomery,
N.Y./O'Neill) both scored on an error in right field
to go up by two runs. Michelle Derochers (Billerica,
Mass./Billerica) got on first by another Bentley
error and later scored on a Tremblay single to take the
three run advantage. FP
rounded out the scoring in the
frame when Hall doubled and drove in Tremblay to make the
score 4-0.
Bentley answered when Frasier singled
and was later driven in by Tisbert to cut FPC's lead to
three runs. The Ravens tacked on a run in the bottom of
the third when Haight scored on a Derochers ground out to
take a 5-1 lead.
Bentley added a run in the top of
the fourth, but it wasn't enough as the Ravens added a run
of their own in the bottom of the sixth.
FP
hurler Courtney Lemoie
(Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) picked up her third win
of the season as she allowed just two earned runs on nine
hits, struck out three and walked none in a complete game
effort. Bentley's Leah Wesemann allowed six runs, just two
earned, on ten hits, struck out none and walked one in six
innings of work for the loss.

completed the
sweep of the Falcons with a 4-3 win in game two.

all batted 2-3 with runs scored to lead the offense.
Bentley's Lisa Lukiewski

All of FPC's scoring
was done in the first inning, as Johnson, Haight and Reade

early 4-0 lead.
The Falcons battled
back, however, and got on the board as Picardo singled and
later scored on a Matthews RBI double. The rally continued
in the fifth as Famiglietti and Becky Cullen scored two
unearned runs to close in on the Ravens.
FP
held on as freshman
hurler Amy Torla (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill)

and struck out and walked none in seven innings of work
