- The Franklin Pierce University
softball team closed out
the 2002 Gene Cusic Classic with a 14-5 victory over Dickinson
College this morning.
FP
jumped out to an immediate four
run lead in the first and scored eight runs in the fourth
inning to take a 14-run lead and put the game out of the
Red Devils' reach.
Junior Julie Haight (Fort Montgomery,
N.Y./O'Neill) hit four-for-four, including three
doubles, and recorded two RBIs and three runs. Classmate
Carolyn Hall (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) nailed
a three run triple in the fourth to tally three RBIs and
scored a run.
Freshman Sonja Johnson (Ashby,
Mass./North Middlesex Regional) went two-for-three
and scored three runs, while classmate Kayla Desjardins
(Plainfield, Conn./Plainfield) hit three-for-four,
including a double, and added two runs and two RBIs.

hurler Kalene Wotton (Westminster,
Mass./Oakmont) allowed four earned runs on four
hits, walked one and struck out six in five innings of work
for the win. Dickinson's Jessica Davis allowed 14 earned
runs on 14 hits, walked five and struck out two for the
loss.

(5-4-1) returns to face the
University of New Haven on Friday, March 29, for a non-conference
matchup in New Haven, Conn. at 3 p.m.
