Le Moyne Sweeps FP
in Softball Twinbill
ABINGTON, Mass. (April 7, 2001) -
The Franklin Pierce University
softball team suffered a sweep
at the hands of Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference
action at Abington High School this afternoon. Le Moyne
took game one, 7-2, before exploding for an 11-2 decision
in the nightcap.
In game one, FP
could only manage
a pair of unearned runs and just one hit off Dolphins sophomore
Marnie Sundberg. Freshman Michelle Derochers
(Billerica, Mass./Billerica) ripped a triple for the Ravens
lone hit of the game as Sundberg fanned nine and walked
just two.
Le Moyne second baseman Amy Phillips
sparked the offense with a pair of singles and four RBIs.
FP
freshman Kalene Wotton
(Westminster, Mass./Oakmont) was the hard-luck loser in
the circle as she yielded seven runs, just two earned, on
six hits with four strikeouts.
In game two, Franklin Pierce got
solo homeruns from sophomore Carolyn Hall
(Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hansen) and freshman Lauren
Chenausky (Athol, Mass./Athol), but Le Moyne put
the game away with five runs in the fifth inning.
Hall batted 3-3 in the game to finish
the week with a .500 batting average (6-12) in four games.
FP
(4-8, 1-3 NE-10) returns to
action with a non-conference doubleheader at the University
of Bridgeport on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
