All-America
candidate. Naturally left-footed player capable of playing anywhere
on the field. Became the first US-born player in program history to
earn All-America honors two times and is the seventh player in
program history overall to do so. Also just the third player in
Northeast-10 Conference history to earn Conference Player of the
Year honors two times and the second to earn the award in
back-to-back seasons. Ranks seventh in program history with 128
career points, sixth with 54 career goals and second with 21 career
match-winning tallies, all of which are records at the College for
US-born players. Played for the Boston Renegades of the W-League
over the summer.
2003:
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year also earned first team
NSCAA All-America, All-New England, NEWISA All-Star and
All-Conference honors. Appeared in the "Faces in the
Crowd" section of the December 15th issue of Sports
Illustrated. Started all 24 matches played. Ranked second on the
team with 27 goals and 63 points to go with nine assists, which was
good for third on the team. Surpassed her own single-season goal and
point records for US-born players. Netted a team-high ten
match-winning goals, which ranks second in program history. Also
totaled eight first goals and two hat tricks. Totaled a team-best 19
goals to go with three assists for 41 points in Conference play.
Recorded five goals and six assists for 16 points in postseason
play, including a goal and assist for three points in NCAA
Tournament matches to earn NCAA All-Tournament team honors for the
second-straight year. Registered seven goals and an assist for 15
points in seven matches against nationally-ranked opponents.
Recorded a hat trick, including the match-winning goal, in 5-1 win
over No. 18 Southern Connecticut State (9/10). Netted two goals,
including the match-winner, in 4-2 win over Assumption (9/17).
Totaled five points with a goal and three assists in 7-0 victory
over Saint Rose (9/20). Scored two of the Ravens three goals,
including the match-winner in 3-0 win over Le Moyne (10/18). Tallied
five points with a goal and three helpers in 6-0 win over
eighth-seeded Pace in quarterfinal round of the NE-10 Tournament
(11/2). Led the Ravens to their fourth-straight NE-10 Tournament
title with three goals and an assist for seven points in 4-3 win
over second-seeded and No. 11 Merrimack in the championship match.
Netted the match-winning goal in 2-1 win over No. 4 Adelphi
University in the NCAA Quarterfinal round. Named Northeast-10 Player
of the Week on two occasions.
2002:
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year also earned first team
NSCAA All-America, All New England NEWISA All-Star and
All-Conference honors. Started all 21 matches. Led the NE-10 and
ranked 20th in Division II with 46 points. She netted a
Conference-best 20 goals (eight match-winners) and dished six
assists (fourth on the team). Broke the school’s single-season
scoring record for US-born players, surpassing the record of 41
points set by Beth Ondrick in 1990. Converted both of her penalty
kick attempts. Registered a goal and assist in win over UMass Lowell
(9/2). Netted two of the Ravens goals in 3-0 win over Saint
Michael’s (9/14). Tallied a goal and assist in 4-0 win at Saint
Rose (9/21). Led Ravens comeback in 3-1 win at Stonehill (9/25) with
two second-half markers. Registered a career-best ten points (two
shy of the school record) with four goals (one shy of program
record) and two assists in 10-0 win over American International
(9/30). Netted the match-winning goal in 2-1 victory at Bentley
(10/17). Tallied three goals in 5-0 win over Saint Anselm (10/22).
Scored match-winner in 4-1 win over Southern N.H. (10/27).
Registered three postseason goals with one each in Northeast-10
Tournament wins over Pace (10/29) and Bentley (11/2) as well as the
match-winner 8:09 into overtime to lead the Ravens past Merrimack
(11/16) in the NCAA Division II New England Regional Championship
for the second-straight year. Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week
twice.
2001:
Earned All-Northeast-10 honors. Also copped NE-10 Tournament
MVP honors after leading a Ravens defense that didn’t yield a goal
in three Tournament matches against three regionally-ranked and one
nationally-ranked opponent. Finished fourth on the team with 21
points and eight goals to go along with five assists. Netted three
match-winning markers, including a goal 6:21 into overtime to lead
Ravens to a 2-1 victory over No. 13 Merrimack in the NCAA Division
II New England Regional on a free kick from 35-yards. Registered her
first career points with a goal and two assists in her collegiate
debut, a 6-3 season-opening win over No. 13 Lock Haven (9/2).
Registered her first career hat trick in 6-1 win over Stonehill
(9/15). Netted a pair of markers, including the match-winner, in a
4-3 win at Bentley (9/27). Named NE-10 Freshman of the Week three
times.

Before Franklin
Pierce: 2000 graduate of
Haverhill High School. A two-time Lawrence Eagle-Tribune
All-Star also earned All-Conference and team MVP honors for four
years. Her 52 career goals ranks fifth all-time in the State of
Massachusetts. Also an All-Conference performer in basketball and
softball.
Personal: Born
April 3, 1982, in Haverhill, Mass. Daughter of Doug and Diane
Welcome of Haverhill. Has three sisters, Amy (32), Elisa (30) and
Katie (26), and a brother, Aaron (24). Majoring in American Studies
with a minor in elementary education. Has also played on the
Franklin Pierce softball team each of the last two seasons and was a
member of the women’s lacrosse team as a freshman.
