WALTHAM, Mass. (October 11, 2006) – Franklin Pierce, ranked 12th in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, opened a 3-0 lead by the break en route to a 5-1 decision at Bentley College in Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer action this afternoon.

            Junior midfielder Gabriela Demoner (Curitiba, Brazil) led Franklin Pierce to its tenth-straight win with two goals and an assist for five points. Senior Linnea Authier (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) made her first start of the season and made four saves (all second half) to preserve the win in goal for the Ravens.

            Senior Kristen Lake (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) opened the scoring just 1:15 into the match with her first career goal, off an assist from freshman Shona Franklin (Leicester, England).           


Senior back Kristen Lake netted her first career goal to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead just 1:15 into today's match.

The Ravens scored twice in a five-minute span late in the first half to open a three-goal lead at the break. Sophomore Ann Foley (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) scored her first goal of the season with a shot into the upper right corner at 34:12, before Demoner scored her first goal off a cross from junior Jenna Giardina (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) at 38:21.

            Demoner set up junior Laura Stockdale (Sunderland, England) to open the second half scoring in the 50th minute, before Bentley got on the board with a marker from sophomore Ashley Reynolds (Cumberland, R.I./Cumberland) at 53:19, assisted by freshman Pammy Newell (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury). Demoner completed her double in the 70th minute to round out the scoring.

            Junior Kristin Stanmyer (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) made seven saves (six second half) in goal for Bentley, who was out-shot 25-12 for the match.

            Franklin Pierce (11-2, 9-2 NE-10) returns home on Saturday when it hosts No. 21 UMass Lowell at 2 p.m. Bentley (5-10, 2-10 NE-10) travels to Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 7 p.m.
