Hislop Named
NE-10 Player of the Week

Reigning Conference Player of the Year honored
for 15th time in three-year career

RINDGE, N.H. (October 3, 2005) – Franklin Pierce senior All-American Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was named the Northeast-10 Conference’s women’s soccer Player of the Week this afternoon.

Hislop, who earns the award for the 15th time in her three-year Franklin Pierce career (second this fall), led the No. 9-ranked Ravens to a pair of key Northeast-10 wins over regionally-ranked opponents with three goals and an assist for seven points.

Hislop celebrated her winning goal at Merrimack last Wednesday.

Hislop scored two second half goals, including the match-winner with 51-seconds left in regulation, in the Ravens 3-2 comeback victory at Merrimack College, ranked fifth in the New England Region. Her first goal equalized the match 8:05 into the second half after the Ravens fell behind 2-0 just 3:20 into the contest. Hislop registered a goal and assist for three points in Saturday’s 3-0 win at rival Southern New Hampshire University, ranked ninth in the region.

Hislop leads the Northeast-10 with 16 goals and 37 points, while her five assists are good for second on the team and third in the Conference. Her team-leading four match-winning goals rank third in the NE-10.

Hislop enters the week just one point shy of becoming the second player in program history to total 200 career points. She currently ranks 11th in NCAA Division II history with 199 career points, having netted 78 goals (2nd all-time at the College) and 43 assists (6th) in 56 career matches over her three years at Franklin Pierce. Former three-time All-American Pauliina Miettinen totaled a Division II-record 309 points from 1995-98.

Franklin Pierce (8-1-1, 6-1-1 NE-10) is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Le Moyne College, ranked tenth in the New England region, at 4 p.m.
