Blanks Le Moyne, 3-0
Hislop’s five points, including 200^th of career, leads Ravens

RINDGE, N.H. (October 5, 2005) – Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 8 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, rode two goals in the opening ten minutes in posting a 3-0 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer action at Sodexho Field this afternoon.

            Senior All-American Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) played a role in all three Franklin Pierce goals with two goals and an assist for her fifth five-point outing of the season. Hislop became just the second player in program history to reach the 200-career point plateau with her opening goal 6:33 into the match. Hislop now ranks 11^th in NCAA Division II history with 204 points. Former three-time All-American Pauliina Miettinen notched a Division II record 309 points for the Ravens from 1995-98.            

Hislop netted her team-leading fifth match-winning goal of the year when she took a pass from freshman Ann Foley (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) and fired a shot into the right corner of the net just 6:33 into the match. Less than two minutes later, Hislop spotted sophomore Taryn Welker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) with a cross for a shot to the right side of the goal at 8:12.

            The Ravens iced the match in the 77^th minute when Hislop gathered a loose ball and fired a shot from the top of the penalty area that bounced through the legs of Le Moyne sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Cochol (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua).

            Franklin Pierce junior Linnea Authier (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) made four saves to preserve her second shutout of the season (seventh career). Cochol made nine saves for the Dolphins, who were out-shot 26-5 in the match.

            Franklin Pierce (9-1-1, 7-1-1 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday for a key Conference and regional match up with No. 19 UMass Lowell at 3 p.m. Le Moyne (4-6-1, 2-6-1 NE-10) hosts Merrimack College on Saturday at noon.
