PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (September 4, 2005) – Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 5 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II preseason coaches poll, scored a goal in each half in dispatching host Holy Family University on day two of the Holy Family Soccer Classic at Augusta Park today.

            Senior All-American Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland), the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, played a role in both Franklin Pierce goals with a goal and assist. She was joined on the Classic’s All-Tournament team by 

teammates Alex Scavo (Toronto, Ontario/Brother Andre) and Rebecca Westbury (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge).

            Hislop connected with Scavo in the 18^th minute to put the Ravens ahead as her serve on a free kick was headed into the net by Scavo. Hislop netted her fourth goal of the weekend in the 63^rd minute to ice the match, taking a pass from sophomore Taryn Welker (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) and firing a shot that bounded off Holy Family senior goalkeeper Kristy Cusick (Philadelphia, Pa./George Washington) and into the net.

            Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Mello (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) made two saves to preserve the win and post her first shutout of the season (eighth career). Cusick stopped six shots for the Tigers, who were out-shot 14-4 for the contest.

            Franklin Pierce (2-0-1, 0-0-1 NE-10) is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Saint Michael’s College on Wednesday for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 4 p.m. Holy Family (0-4) visits Philadelphia University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
