All-American Meghan
Welcome (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill)
netted what proved to be the match-winner in the 37th minute
when she tipped in a loose ball at the doorstep. Junior All-American Laura
Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland)
added an insurance marker 3:40 into the second half when she flicked the
ball in from 12-yards. The goal was her 50th in 37 career
matches at Franklin Pierce.
Sophomore Linnea
Authier (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow)
and freshman Jenna
Mello (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry)
each registered three saves while playing a half each in the match to
preserve the team’s eighth shutout of the season.
Saint Rose junior Kat
Marasia (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville)
posted one stop in 58-minutes of action before yielding to freshman Lauren
Steinberg (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay),
who did not register a stop over the final 32 minutes.
Shots were even in the match, 9-9, with the Golden Knights
putting six shots on goal compared to three for Franklin Pierce.
Franklin Pierce (12-1, 10-1 NE-10) continues a five-match stretch in a span of ten days on Wednesday at Bentley College at 3 p.m. Saint Rose (9-3-2, 6-3-2 NE-10) hosts UMass Lowell on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
