Scavo Named NE-10 Freshman of the Week
Markham, Ontario, native earns award for 
second-straight week


RINDGE, N.H. (September 15, 2003) – Franklin Pierce freshman Alex Scavo (Markham, Ontario/Brother Andre) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer Freshman of the Week by the Conference office this afternoon.

            Scavo earns the award for the second-straight week after she totaled six points with two goals and two assists in three matches for the Ravens last week. She registered a season-best five points with two goals, including the match-winner, and an assist to lead 

No. 3-ranked Franklin Pierce to a 4-1 win over Angelo (Texas) State University on Sunday. In the Ravens 5-1 win over No. 18 Southern Connecticut State University to open the week, she assisted on their opening goal to erase an early deficit.

            Scavo currently ranks third on the team with nine points, totaling three goals and three assists. Her nine points are good for 13th among Northeast-10 Conference leaders and she ranks ninth in assists.

            Franklin Pierce (4-1, 3-0 NE-10), ranked No. 1 in this week’s New England Regional poll, returns to action this week for a pair of home matches against regionally ranked opponents. The Ravens host No. 6 Assumption College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., before entertaining No. 5 College of Saint Rose on Saturday at 2 p.m.
