Three Ravens net two goals to spark offense 
in non-conference victory


POULTNEY, Vt. (October 14, 2003) – Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 10 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, found its offensive stride and posted a 7-0 victory over Green Mountain College in non-conference women’s soccer action this afternoon.

            Three different Ravens scored two goals to lead the offense, which snapped out of a four-match funk in which they averaged just 1.25 goals per match, with seven markers. 


Senior Jillian Tente also totaled five points for the Ravens.

Senior Jillian Tente (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown) and sophomore Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) each totaled five points with two goals and an assist to lead Franklin Pierce. Jjunior All-American Meghan Welcome (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) netted two goals, while classmate Martta Makila (Vantaa, Finland) rounded out the scoring with a goal of her own.

            Freshman goalkeeper Linnea Authier (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) was called on to make one save to preserve her second career shutout for the Ravens.

            Franklin Pierce (12-2, 10-1 NE-10) returns to Conference play on Saturday when it hosts Le Moyne College at noon.
