Kibsgaard
Named NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week RINDGE, N.H. (September 3, 2002) - Franklin Pierce junior Aase Kibsgaard (Korgen, Norway) was named Northeast-10 Conference co-Goalkeeper of the Week by the Conference office on Tuesday. Kibsgaard, a transfer from Champlain College, posted back-to-back shutouts in a 2-0 season-opening week for the Franklin Pierce women’s soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II Preseason Coaches poll. Kibsgaard made two saves to preserve the Ravens first victory of the season, a 2-0 decision at Assumption College on Saturday. One of her saves came on a Greyhounds penalty kick midway through the first half to preserve a scoreless match. Kibsgaard followed that up by whitewashing UMass Lowell in the Ravens 4-0 win on Monday in which she was called on to make one stop. With the two shutouts, Kibsgaard has already moved into a tie for ninth in program history with two career shutouts. Franklin Pierce won its 13th-consecutive season-opener and the shutout of Assumption marked the fourth time in the last five years and ninth time in program history the Ravens recorded a season-opening shutout. The two shutouts to start the season marks just the third time in program history the Ravens have accomplished that feat - the first since 2000, when Franklin Pierce opened with five-straight shutout victories. Franklin Pierce (2-0, 2-0 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday, September 11, when it travels to New Haven, Conn., for a match with Southern Connecticut State University at 7 p.m. |
