NE-10 Player of the Week RINDGE, N.H. (October 7, 2002) - Franklin Pierce sophomore forward Meghan Welcome (Haverhill, Mass./Haverhill) was named the Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week for her efforts in a 2-0-1 week for the Ravens, ranked No. 2 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll. Welcome played a role in six of the Ravens goals in a 10-0 dismantling of American International College in the Ravens first match of the week. She totaled a career-high ten points which was just two shy of the program record for a single-game set by former All-America forward Pauliina Miettinen in a win over University at Albany on September 8, 1998. Welcome netted a career-best four goals (one shy of the program record set four times, twice by Miettinen) and dished two assists in the victory. Welcome has taken over the Conference scoring lead with 29 points as she has netted a Conference-leading 12 goals to go along with five assists which ranks eighth in the NE-10. Her 29 points has given her 50 for her career which currently ranks 22nd all-time at the College. The Franklin Pierce (9-0-1, 8-0-1 NE-10), ranked first in this week’s New England regional poll, returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Bryant College (7-3-2, 4-3-2 NE-10), ranked fourth in the region, at 3:30 p.m. |
