Verdoes leads Ravens who claim eighth shutout in ten matches this season

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. (October 5, 2002) - Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 2 in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II poll, collected a pair of goals late in each half to post a 2-0 victory over Pace University, ranked eighth in this weeks New England Regional poll, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action this afternoon.

Senior All-America forward Angela Verdoes (Katwijk Aan Zee, Holland) snapped a personal string of six matches without recording a point as she had a role in both Franklin Pierce markers, netting a goal and dishing up one assist.

Verdoes set up the first career goal for freshman Elizabeth Allen (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) with a pass from the right side for an open shot for what proved to be the game-winner in the 37th minute of play.

Verdoes netted an insurance marker for Franklin Pierce in the 86th minute, taking a lead pass from junior Jillian Tente (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingstown), for a shot from the middle.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Aase Kibsgaard (Korgen, Norway) was credited with a career-high ten saves in posting her sixth career shutout, which ranks eighth all-time in program history.

Pace freshman Ria Carroll posted eight stops in goal.

Franklin Pierce (9-0-1, 8-0-1 NE-10) continues its stretch of five-straight matches against regionally ranked opponents when it hosts Bryant College, ranked fourth in the New England region, on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Pace (6-6, 3-6 NE-10) hosts UMass Lowell on Wednesday
