Senior goalkeeper Jenna Mello (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) made five saves (all second half) to preserve her fourth shutout of the season. The clean sheet is the 27th of Mello’s career, moving her into a tie for second all-time in program history with former All-America goalkeeper Jeanette Smith (1993-95). Sophomore Jacqueline Gogel (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) made four stops for Pace.
Franklin Pierce out-shot Pace 8-0 in the first half, but the match remained scoreless until 6:34 into the second half when Demoner connected with Giardina with a cross from the left side. Giardina took two touches and then slotted a low shot into the lower left corner from 12-yards out.
The Ravens doubled their lead just 3:25 later when Demoner took a pass from Preisler and chipped the keeper with her knee at the top of the six. Demoner completed her double in the 76th minute when she converted a penalty kick for her Northeast-10 leading 11th goal of the season. She has now totaled six goals and three assists over the Ravens last three matches.
Franklin Pierce (6-1-2, 4-1-2 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday when it visits Merrimack College, ranked fourth in the New England Region, at 7 p.m. The Ravens do not return home until Wednesday, October 3, when they host Le Moyne College at 4 p.m.
