Franklin Pierce Hangs With #9 New Haven in 20-10 Loss

New Haven netted the first four goals of the match to take an early lead and never surrendered it. Lambracht scored the game’s opening goal only 28 seconds in on a free-position shot, and Brady capped the early run with another free-position goal 4:36 into the contest to increase the lead to 4-0. Savini got the Ravens on the board less than three minutes later off an assist by freshman Jillian Benn (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy).
The teams alternated goals for the next seven minutes before the Chargers scored seven consecutive goals and nine of the next 10 to finish the first half with a 15-4 lead. Seven different players scored for New Haven during the decisive final 14:36 of the half.
Franklin Pierce outscored New Haven in the second half, 6-5, but the Ravens could get no closer than eight goals the rest of the way. Baillargeon, Stoffer and Savini scored to begin the second half as the Ravens cut the lead to 15-7, and Stille scored the Ravens’ final three goals of the afternoon, including the final goal of the match with 58 seconds remaining, to account for the final score of 20-10.
Sophomore Shannon Greenwood (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) made the start in goal for New Haven and stopped seven of 11 shots in the first half to earn the win, while freshman Shannon Kilburn (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) made four saves in the second half. Franklin Pierce freshman Chaniece Franklyn (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) gave up 15 goals on 18 shots in 30 minutes, before senior goaltender Michaela Sullivan (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) came on for the second half and gave up five tallies.
Franklin Pierce (2-9, 0-6 NE-10) returns home on Wednesday evening, as the Ravens welcome Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College to Sodexho Field for a 6 p.m. matchup. New Haven (10-2, 3-2 ECC) hosts Bryant University on Monday at 4 p.m.
