Franklin Pierce Succumbs to SUNY-Geneseo, 22-4
Stille scores three goals in her first collegiate game to lead the Ravens

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 16, 2008) The Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team dropped its 2008 season opener to SUNY-Geneseo, falling by a score of 22-4 in a non-conference matchup at the Disney Complex on Sunday afternoon. 

Senior Maggie Benham (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) led the Knights with a game-high four goals. Classmate Shauna Leonard (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) added three goals and two assists for Geneseo, while sophomore Tara Murphy (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) notched a pair of tallies.

For Franklin Pierce, freshman Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) played very well in her first collegiate game, as she scored three of the Ravens’ four goals. Junior May Stoffer (New Hartford, Conn./Watkinson) also had a goal for the Ravens, while junior captain Carla Savini (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) notched an assist on Stoffer’s tally.

In goal, freshman goaltender Chaniece Franklyn (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) made 13 saves for the Ravens in her first collegiate game.

Franklin Pierce (0-1, 0-0 NE-10) continues its Florida trip on Tuesday afternoon, when the Ravens take on Northeast-10 Conference member Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference matchup beginning at 12:30 p.m. SUNY-Geneseo (2-0, 0-0 SUNYAC) faces off with Clarkson University on Thursday at noon.
