Bryant Surges Past Franklin Pierce, 23-12
Stille tallies five goals, Baillargeon notches a season-best four for the Ravens

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (March 27, 2008) Senior Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan) scored a career-high seven goals to lead Bryant University to a 23-12 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse action on Thursday night at the Turf Complex.

Hansen scored seven goals and added an assist for a game-high eight points for Bryant. Bulldog sophomore Allison Faiola (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) found the net five times and had one assist for six points, while junior Lauren Albert (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) scored three times and had three assists in the win.

Freshman Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) led the Ravens in scoring for the fourth consecutive game, scoring five goals and adding an assist for six points. Classmate Jordan Baillargeon (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) set a new season-high with four goals and junior captain Carla Savini (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) added three goals and an assist for Franklin Pierce.


Freshman Lauren Stille led the Ravens with five goals and added one assist on Thursday.

Bryant came out quickly, scoring the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 lead only 34 seconds into the contest. But Franklin Pierce fought back to tie the match at two and took its first lead of the game 6:46 into the first half after a goal by Stille capped a three-goal run in 65 seconds for a 5-4 lead.

Bryant came back with a run of its own, however, scoring the next nine goals to take a 13-5 lead with 7:43 remaining in the first half. Hansen, who along with Albert had three goals during the run, completed the stretch with a free position shot at the 23:17 mark of the first half. The teams alternated goals for the remainder of the first half, with Bryant taking a 15-8 edge into intermission.

The Bulldogs then scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 19-8 lead with 23:45 to go in the game, and the home team held the Ravens to three goals by Stille and one by Baillargeon in the second half to take home the win.

Sophomore Jessica Bolton (Belgrade Lakes, Maine/Scarborough) made nine saves on 21 shots to earn the victory for Bryant. Freshman goaltender Chaniece Franklyn (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) made 16 saves on 39 shots for Franklin Pierce.

Franklin Pierce (1-3, 0-2 NE-10) is scheduled to begin a season-long four-game homestand on Saturday, when the team hosts national No. 3 Stonehill College at Sodexho Field beginning at noon. Bryant (4-3, 2-1 NE-10) hosts Assumption College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
