Stille scores five goals to set new single-season goals mark at Franklin Pierce

WALTHAM, Mass. (April 22, 2008) Bentley College defeated Franklin Pierce University by a score of 24-9 in Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse action on Tuesday evening at the Bentley Lacrosse Field.

Bentley sophomore Jaclyn Griffin (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) led all scorers with six goals and three assists for nine points, while senior Liz Goddard (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro Regional) added three goals and four assists for seven points. Junior Alyssa Ritchie (North Andover, Mass./ North Andover) also scored twice to become the Falcons’ all-time leading scorer.

Franklin Pierce also had its own record fall on Tuesday night, as freshman Lauren Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) scored five times to become the school’s single-season leader in goals scored with 61, passing the 58 tallies of Courtney Boardman ’05 from her final season. The freshman now holds all three major single-season records at the school, having captured the single-season assists and points marks earlier in the year.

Bentley scored nine of the first 10 goals of the evening to take a 9-1 lead with 13:25 remaining in the first half, giving the home team a comfortable cushion. Franklin Pierce put together four unanswered goals in a four-minute span later in the half, capped by the record-tying and record-breaking goals from Stille less than two minutes apart, but Bentley scored the final four goals of the half to take a 13-5 edge into the intermission and never looked back.

Freshman goaltender Chaniece Franklyn (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) made 11 saves for Franklin Pierce on the evening.

Franklin Pierce (2-12, 0-8 NE-10) returns home to celebrate Senior Day on Thursday evening, as the Ravens host American International College at 6 p.m. in the team’s 2008 home finale. Bentley (6-8, 5-4 NE-10) takes to the road to take on IWLCA No. 9 University of New Haven on Thursday at 4 p.m.
