#4 Stonehill Blanks Franklin Pierce, 23-0
Kelley and Maloney lead Skyhawks to 61st straight Northeast-10 victory

Stonehill College.

EASTON, MASS. (April 1, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team suffered a tough 23-0 setback to No. 4 ranked Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon at W.B Mason Field. The Skyhawks totaled 17 goals in the first half to cruise to their 61st consecutive Northeast-10 Conference victory.  

            Sophomore Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led the Stonehill attack with five points on four goals and one assist, while junior Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) added a pair of goals and three assists. Senior Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H./Nashua) and junior All-America Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) each added a hat trick and an assist on the day, while sophomore Mary Maloney (Great River, N.Y./Saint Anthony’s) tied the school single-match record with six assists

Stonehill raced out to a 10-0 lead just 6:54 into the contest en route to a 17-0 advantage at the break behind the hot-shooting Michelle Kelly who posted four goals in the first half. Kristin Darrell added three scores to aid the Skyhawk first-half offense, while Hoffman registered three goals and two helpers.

In the second half, Stonehill continued its momentum with seven unanswered goals to earn its seventh victory of the season. Maloney paced the Skyhawks with two assists in the second frame, while freshman Christina Knepley (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) connected for two goals.

Stonehill out-shot Franklin Pierce 47-3 in the contest. Junior Amanda McGeachey (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) picked up the victory and her first collegiate shutout with a pair of saves in goal for the Skyhawks, while senior Erin Hopkins (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) made 16 stops in net for the Ravens.

            Franklin Pierce (1-6, 0-3 NE-10) will be in action again on Tuesday as it travels to Keene State College at 4 p.m. Stonehill (7-0, 3-0 NE-10) will host Bentley College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
