Saint Anselm Shoots Past Franklin Pierce, 14-1
Glancy registers a game-high six points in Hawk victory

RINDGE, N.H. (April 10, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team suffered a tough 14-1 setback to Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at Sodexho Field. The Hawks opened the contest with 13 unanswered goals to pick up their fifth victory of the season.

Senior captain Lauren Glancy (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) led the Saint Anselm attack, posting a game-high six points on three goals and three assists. Classmate Colleen Sheehan (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) collected five points on three goals and two assists, while senior Caroline Gooding (Easton, Mass./Thayer Academy) added four points with two goals and two assists.

Junior newcomer Jenna Giardina (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce, while freshman Meghan Masterson (Sharon, Mass./Sharon) chipped in an assist.

Saint Anselm jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first half led by the hot-shooting of Caroline Gooding. Gooding registered two goals and two assists, while Lauren Clancy netted two scores. Junior Tiea Kurlowecz (Concord, Mass./Concord) added two goals in the period, while classmates Beth Millian (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) and Arden Lyons (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) chipped in one score apiece.

In the second half, Saint Anselm added five more goals to take a 13-0 lead before Franklin Pierce broke its scoring silence on Giardina’s second goal of the season. Colleen Sheehan added a late goal with 7:40 remaining in the period to secure the Hawk victory.

Saint Anselm out-shot Franklin Pierce 32 to 12 in the contest. Freshman goaltender Alexandra DiRico (Royersford, Pa./The Hill School) made eight saves for the Hawks, while senior goaltender Erin Hopkins (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) collected 14 stops for the Ravens.   

                        Franklin Pierce (1-9, 0-5 NE-10) will be in action again on Saturday as it hosts the University of New Haven at 1 p.m. Saint Anselm College (5-3, 2-2 NE-10) will travel to Southern New Hampshire University on Thursday at 4 p.m.
