Named To All-Academic Team
RINDGE, N.H. (May 7, 2007) – Senior captain Erin Hopkins (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy), co-captain Nicole McKinnon (Northfield, N.H./Winnisquam) and sophomore Jennifer Provencher (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) of the Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team were named to the 2007 Northeast-10 All Academic second team as selected by the Conference’s Sports Information Directors. Hopkins earns her first Northeast-10 All-Academic honor after totaling a 3.27 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Sports and Recreation Management. Hopkins has been a two year letterwinner for the Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team, serving as captain during her senior season. She finished her career ranking second all-time in career saves with 496, while ranking third all-time in save percentage. This season, Hopkins started all 17 games, registering a career-high 281 saves en route to a .497 save percentage. She became the program’s all-time single game saves leader with a 33 save performance against Plymouth State College. She recently collected 16 saves in the Ravens 13-11 victory over Assumption College.
McKinnon earns her first Northeast-10 All-Academic accolade after recording a 3.37 cumulative grade point average while majoring in English. McKinnon has been a four year letterwinner for the Ravens, serving as captain during her senior season. She has appeared in a program record 62 career games, registering 11 points on seven goals and four assists. McKinnon has served a vital role in the Ravens midfield throughout her career, totaling 167 groundballs and 102 caused turnovers. This season, the senior captain has totaled four goals, while picking up a team-high 58 groundballs. She aided the Ravens in a 13-11 victory over Assumption College with two goals scored. Provencher earns her first Northeast-10 All-Academic honor after totaling a 3.54 cumulative grade point average. Provencher has been a two-year letterwinner in the Ravens midfield. She has appeared in 31 career games, totaling one goal for one point, while picking 23 career groundballs. This season, Provencher appeared in all 17 games, totaling one goal for one point. She registered her first collegiate goal to help the Ravens snap a 41 game losing streak with a 17-11 victory over SUNY-Morrisville. Provencher also ranked fifth on the team with 13 groundballs while aiding the Ravens midfield. Franklin Pierce concluded its season with an overall record of 2-15, 1-9 in the Northeast-10 Conference. |
