#1 L.I.U.-C.W. Post Tops Franklin Pierce, 14-1
Fabian totals game-high five points in Pioneer victory

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (April 28, 2007) – The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team suffered a tough 14-1 setback to No. 1 ranked L.I.U.-C.W. Post in non-conference action this afternoon at Hickox Field. The Pioneers out-scored the Ravens 10-0 in the first half to cruise to their 14th victory of the season.

            Senior Shannon Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) led the C.W. Post attack with a game-high five points on one goal and four assists. Sophomore Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) was also solid, totaling three points on two goals and one assist, while senior Ashlyn Giulianelli (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), and classmate Colleen Agostinacchio (Bellmore, N.Y./Kellenberg) registered two points apiece.

Junior Jenna Giardina (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce, while freshman Emily Taub (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) registered one assist.

C.W. Post jumped out to an early 10-0 lead after the first period of play. Fabian led the Pioneer first half attack with five points on one goal and four assists, while Giulianelli, Agostonacchio, and junior Jenna Miller (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) collected two points apiece.

In the second half, C.W. Post came out firing, registering four consecutive goals to take a 14-0 advantage. Freshman Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.J./Comseqogue) opened the Pioneer scoring at the 22:36 mark, while Lyons, senior Lindsay Goldman (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) and freshman Brooke Wayte (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) recorded one score apiece. Giardina registered the lone Raven goal with 3:37 remaining in regulation off an assist from Taub.

C.W. Post out-shot Franklin Pierce 35 to eight in the contest. Junior goaltender Lauren Scipione (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) collected four saves in net for the Pioneers, while senior goaltender Erin Hopkins (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) stopped 12 shots for Franklin Pierce..

Franklin Pierce concludes its season with an overall record of 2-15, 1-9 in the Northeast-10. L.I.U.- C.W. Post (14-0, 5-0 ECC) will host Philadelphia on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
