Bryant Bests Franklin Pierce, 20-2

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (April 17, 2006) –
The Franklin Pierce
Women’s Lacrosse team suffered a tough 20-2 loss to Bryant
University in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at Bryant
University. The Bulldogs opened the match with an 8-1 lead after the
first half and posted 12 goals in the second half to pick up their
seventh victory of the season.
Bryant University was led by
junior Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, CA) who scored a
team high five goals and added one assist. Her fifth goal of the
game was her 100th career goal. Freshman Delia Glover (Marston
Mills, MA), senior Marisa Lawrence (Falmouth, MA),
and junior Amanda Gallant (Andover,MA) each had three
goals for the Bulldogs in the match.
Franklin Pierce freshman Carla Savini (Danvers, Mass./Danvers)
and senior Jess Llyod (Seymour, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy)
each posted scores for the Ravens. Lloyd notched her first goal of
the season with 6:06 remaining in the first half, while Savini added
her team-leading ninth goal of the season with 23:01 remaining the
second stanza.
Bryant out-shot Franklin Pierce
46-11 and held a 58-28 advantage in groundballs. Bulldog goalkeeper
Samantha Libby (Penacook, NH) had four saves to earn
the victory, while Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Erin
Hopkins (Pen Yan, N.Y./Pen Yan) made 14 saves for the
Ravens.
Franklin Pierce (0-11, 0-8 NE-10) will be in action again on
Wednesday as it hosts Saint Michael’s College at 6 p.m. Bryant
University (7-3, 5-2 NE-10) host Southern New Hampshire on Saturday
afternoon at 1:00 pm.
