Franklin Pierce Downed By Allegheny, 10-3
Three Ravens notch goals in loss


Senior April Silva notched her first goal of the season in the Ravens loss to Allegheny College.

WELLINGTON, FLA. (March 21, 2006) – The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team suffered a tough 10-3 loss to Allegheny College in non-conference action today in Wellington, Fla. The Gator’s took an early 8-2 lead into halftime and added two more goals in the second half as Allegheny claimed its second straight victory.

            Franklin Pierce had three different players notch goals in the match. Junior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) opened the scoring for Franklin Pierce as she netted her second goal of the season off an assist from freshman May Stoffer (New Hartford, Conn./Watkinson). Sophomore Celine Stamets (Sausalito, Calif./Mavin Catholic) was also solid as she contributed her second goal of the season. Senior April Silva (E. Falmouth, Mass./Sacred Heart University) chipped in with her first goal of the season, while junior Ashley Hayes (Jordan, N.Y./Cayuga) and freshman Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) each pitched in an assist.

            Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Erin Hopkins (Pen Yan, N.Y./Pen Yan Academy) made 16 saves in net for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) will be in action next Wednesday as it hosts Keene State College at 6 p.m. Allegheny College (2-0, 0-0 NCAC) will face Wellesley College on Thursday at 9 a.m.
