ANDOVER, Mass. (April 16, 2005) – The
Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team dropped a 20-6 decision to
Merrimack College today in Northeast-10 action in North Andover, Mass.
The Warriors jumped out to a 12-3 advantage at the intermission and
outscored the Ravens 8-3 in the second half.
Junior Alison Colarusso (North Andover, Mass./North
Andover) exploded for seven goals, while freshman Allison
Kownacki (Orange, Conn./Amity) totaled five points on a hat
trick and two assists. Junior Erin Black (Walpole, Mass./Walpole)
and freshman Lauryn Serratore (Worwood, Mass./Worwood)
also tallied hat tricks for the Warriors.
The Ravens got a pair of goals apiece from junior Courtney
Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) and senior Amanda
McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madison). Boardman also added an assist,
while classmates Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and
Kara LaSalle (Gilford, N.H./Gilford) recorded markers in a
losing effort.
Warriors freshman goalkeeper Lawana DaCosta (Framingham,
Mass./Framingham) saved 13 shots en route to the win, while
freshman Michaela Sullivan (Arlington, Mass./Arlington)
stopped 11 shots for Franklin Pierce.
The Ravens (0-13, 0-7 NE-10) return to action on Monday, when
they host Bryant University for a Northeast-10 Conference contest
beginning at 6:00 p.m. Merrimack (8-2, 6-0 NE-10) hosts top-ranked
Stonehill College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The game will pit the
leagues last two unbeaten teams.
