C.W. Post Defeats BROOKVILLE,
N.Y. (April 10, 2005) – C.W.
Post, ranked No. 3 in this week’s Division II Intercollegiate
Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association poll, earned a 17-3 victory
over non-conference foe Franklin Pierce this afternoon at Hickox Field
in Brookville, N.Y. The Pioneers jumped out to a 14-1 edge after one
half of play and never looked back, as they won their seventh
consecutive contest.
Ten players recorded goals for C.W. Post. Senior Ashley
Gilroy (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) led all scorers
with five points on three assists and a pair of goals, while sophomore Shannon
Fabian (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) racked up a game-high
four goals. The Pioneers also got solid production from junior Masina
Longo (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore), who tallied twice and added a
pair of helpers.
Junior Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle)
and senior captain Amanda McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madison)
accounted for all three Franklin Pierce goals. Boardman tallied twice,
while McIntosh registered the third Ravens goal.
Senior goalkeeper Christy Gardner (Auburn, Maine/Auburn)
picked up the win, saving a shot in one half of play for the Pioneers.
Freshman netminder Michaela Sullivan (Arlington, Mass./Arlington)
suffered the loss for the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce (0-10, 0-4 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday,
when they host Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire
University at 6:00 p.m. C.W. Post (7-1) will travel to Bryant University
for a non-conference tilt on Saturday at noon. C.W.
