Merrimack Runs Past 
Franklin Pierce, 13-6

RINDGE, N.H. (April 17, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team fell to Merrimack 13-6 in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Franklin Pierce Field Hockey/Lacrosse Field this morning.

Sophomore Alison Colarusso (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) led the Warriors with three goals. Junior Kate Condon (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) followed with three goals while sophomore Erin Black (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) and junior Beth Arnold (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) notched two scores apiece and Black contributed an assist.

Sophomore Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) was the leading scorer for the Ravens with three goals. Classmate Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) added two tallies, junior Amanda McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madison) chipped in a goal. Senior Angela Bottomley (Hampton, Va./Hampton) registered two assists and junior April Silva (Falmouth, Mass./Sacred Heart Univ.) also added a helper.


Sophomore Courtney Boardman led the Ravens offense with three goals.

Arnold put the Warriors out to a 1-0 lead with a goal 1:01 into the first half, but Silverman answered for the Ravens with 25:15 remaining to tie the score at one. Merrimack went on to post four more goals before Silverman added the Ravens second of the game with 13:38 remaining in the half. The Warriors notched two more then Boardman tallied her first of the game on a free position shot with 5:28 left in the first. Colarusso followed with her fourth goal of the day to make the score 8-3 in favor of Merrimack going into the intermission.

Arnold opened the second half scoring 1:08 in then Boardman helped Franklin Pierce climb to within four. This would be as close as the Ravens would get, however, as the Warriors outscored Franklin Pierce 4-1 in the remainder of the half to secure the win.

Senior Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) stopped 18 shots in goal for the Ravens, while Emily Sherlock (Cambridge, Mass./Matignon) made three saves for Merrimack.

Franklin Pierce (3-9, 1-6 NE-10) next travels to Bryant for Northeast-10 game at 1p.m. tomorrow. Merrimack (6-4, 4-3 NE-10) returns to action tomorrow against New Haven.
