State Rallies Past MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 30, 2004) - The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team took an early 3-0 lead, but could not hold back Keene State as the Ravens fell, 13-11 to the Owls in their 2004 home opener at the Franklin Pierce Field Hockey/Lacrosse field this afternoon. Junior Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y/Fairport) led the Keene State with six goals and an assist, while sophomore Colleen Murphy (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) registered two goals and an assist. Sophomore Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) set a new career high with seven goals in the game and was the leading scorer for the Ravens. Juniors April Silva (Falmouth, Mass./Sacred Heart Univ.) and Amanda McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madison) both tallied two goals apiece, while senior Angel Bottomley (Hampton, Va./Hampton) dished two assists and sophomore Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) recorded one assist. The Ravens drew first blood as McIntosh gave Franklin Pierce a 1-0 lead 3:45 into the first half. Shortly after, Silverman notched goals at 6:56 and 7:16 to put the Ravens up 3-0. Keene State came storming back, however, and knotted the score at three apiece with 13:02 remaining in the first. The Owls then took a brief 4-3 lead before the Ravens tallied four goals to reclaim their three-goal advantage. Silverman opened the scoring in the second half, making it 8-5 in favor of the Ravens, but Franklin Pierce could not hold its lead as Keene managed to tally eight in the stanza and secure the win. Senior Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) registered 11 saves for the Ravens and Jamie Litch (Addison, Vt./Vergennes) stopped 16 shots in goal for the Owls. Franklin Pierce (2-4, 0-1 NE-10) travels to Assumption Saturday for a Conference game at 1 p.m. Keene State (4-2, 0-0 Little East) next hosts UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m. Keene State 13, Franklin Pierce 11
