Haven Upends
Casandra Schmidt (New Milford,
Conn./New Milford) led the Chargers with five goals, four coming
in the first half. Heather Miles (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) followed
with four goals, while Maggie Mead (Elbridge,
N.Y./Jordan/Elbridge) registered three goals, and Stephanie
Napp (Southington, Conn./Southington HS) and Britt Treager
(Victoria, B.C./Claremont) chipped in with two goals apiece.
Sophomore Courtney Boardman (Buxton,
Maine/Bonny Eagle) was the leading scorer for the Ravens with
two goals and classmate Alissa Silverman (Sandwich,
Mass./Sandwich) tallied the third and final Franklin Pierce
goal.
New Haven jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in
the match before Boardman put the Ravens on the scoreboard with goals at
8:35 and 10:33 into the first half.
The Chargers answered back quickly,
however, as they added six more goals before Silverman notched her 10th
of the season for Franklin Pierce with 21 seconds left in the stanza.
New Haven then went on hold the Ravens
scoreless in the second half while adding six more scores to secure the
win.
Senior Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield,
Conn./Ridgefield) registered seven saves for Franklin Pierce and
Heather Gebhardt (E. Rochester, N.Y./E. Rochester) totaled
11 saves for New Haven.
Franklin Pierce (2-2) returns
to action March 29th as it travels to St. Anselm for a
Northeast-10 match at 3:30 p.m. New
