Franklin Pierce, 16-12


WORCESTER, Mass. (April 3, 2004) –
The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team came away tied at the intermission, but could not hold back Assumption in the second half as the Ravens fell 16-12 to the Greyhounds in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening.

            Senior Tiffany Gull (Orange, Conn./Amity) led the scoring for the Greyhounds with six points on four goals and two assists. Margeaux Souter (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free) and Jenny Mongeau (Westboro, Mass./Westboro) chipped in with three goals apiece, while Gennie Falcon (Reading, Mass./Lexington Christian) and Adrienne Gardner (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) each recorded four points on two goals and two assists.

            Sophomore Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) notched six goals to lead the Ravens offense. Junior Amanda McIntosh (Madison, N.J./Madison) registered four points on three goals and an assist, while sophomore Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) added two goals and junior April Silva (Falmouth, Mass./Sacred Heart Univ.) scored one. Senior Angel Bottomley (Hampton, Va./Hampton), junior April Demers (Gorham, N.H./Gorham), and freshman Nicole McKinnon (Northfield, N.H./Winnasquam) all dished assists in the loss.

            The Greyhounds took an early 1-0 lead on Falcon’s first goal of the night, but Silverman answered for the Ravens with goals at 5:03 and 5:19 into the match. Silva gave the Ravens a 3-1 advantage, however Mongeau answered for Assumption.           


Senior Ashley Simpson made a season-high 20 saves against the Greyhounds.

 Boardman then went on a three-goal run to give Franklin Pierce a 6-2 lead, but the Greyhounds rallied to even the score at six apiece by the end of the first half.

            Mongeau broke the tie just under two minutes into the second and the Greyhounds maintained the lead for the remainder of the contest, securing the win.

            Senior Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) registered a season-high 20 saves for the Ravens and Marjorie Schepp (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) stopped 7 shots for Assumption.

            Franklin Pierce (2-5, 0-2 NE-10) will face American International in Conference action at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Assumption (3-1, 3-1 NE-10) will also host the Yellow Jackets in their next game, tomorrow at 5 p.m.
