Bentley Tops Franklin Pierce, 14-6 RINDGE, N.H. (April 17, 2003) - Bentley College outscored Franklin Pierce, 8-1, during a 30-minute span in the middle of the contest to break open a 2-2 game and went on to post a 14-6 victory in Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse action this afternoon. Sophomore Kathryn Karr netted four goals to lead the Bentley offense, while classmate Shandra Bacher also tallied four points with three goals and an assist. Freshmen Stephanie Droney and Ashley Coombes each added two goals and an assist. Senior goalkeeper Monica Rose recorded 18 saves in nearly 47 minutes of action, yielding four goals, before giving way to freshman Lisa Carvallo who registered six stops over the final 13:05 with two goals against. Freshman Courtney Boardman (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) led the Franklin Pierce offense with four goals, while classmate Alissa Silverman (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) added two markers. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Simpson (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) posted 15 saves for the Ravens. he two sides traded goals over the first 12 minutes of action, with Franklin Pierce taking the lead twice on scores from Boardman (1:38 in) and Silverman (10:42), but Bentley answered each time with goals of its own from Bacher (8:29) and senior Lauren Dickie 11:21 in. The Falcons then netted eight of the next nine markers in the match as it built a 6-3 advantage at the intermission, then extended the cushion to 10-3 after Carr’s second goal of the match with 19:13 left in regulation. Franklin Pierce (3-7, 3-4 NE-10) rounds out its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts New England College for a non-conference match at 1 p.m. Bentley (6-2, 5-2 NE-10) visits American International College on Saturday.
