Franklin Pierce Shoots Past Concordia, 53-45
Lang leads Ravens with 19 points

 FORT MYERS, Fla. (Dec. 28, 2003) – The Franklin Pierce women’s basketball team notched a 53-45 victory over the Concordia Clippers in game one of the Florida Gulf Coast Classic hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University.

 Junior guard Patricia Lang (Monroe, N.H./Saint Johnsbury Academy) led the Ravens with 19 points and was five of six at the free throw line. Freshman forward Danielle D’Ettorre (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/St. Mary's) contributed 10 points and four rebounds in the win and was four of six at the line. Sophomore Maria Clifton (New York, N.Y./Saint Michaels) was Franklin Pierce’s top rebounder with seven.

Katie Reynolds (Monroe, Conn./Mastic) scored a team best 16 points for the Clippers, while Pam Karagiorgois (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) followed with 14 points and a team high eight rebounds.

Franklin Pierce held a narrow 28-26 advantage after the first half despite being outshot by Concordia 45.5% (10-22) to 34.5% (10-29) from the field. However, the Clippers went 0-8 from three-point range in the second half, while the Ravens were 2-5 (40.0%) to help seal the victory. The Concordia shot 37.5% for the game and Franklin Pierce finished with a 35.8% shooting percentage.

 The Ravens (4-4, 1-4 NE-10) will face Cheyney University (Pa.) on Monday at 5:00 p.m. on day two of the Florida Gulf Coast Classic.
