Merrimack Shoots Past Franklin Pierce, 71-41 WINCHENDON, MASS. (December 7, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce women's basketball team dropped its third-straight Northeast-10 Conference victory, falling to Merrimack College, 71-41, in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Winchendon School Gymnasium this evening. Junior Christina Siragusa led all scorers with 14 points to go along with six rebounds. Freshman Joelle Martin added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, while sophomore Jenny Smith recorded a team-high nine rebounds and three steals. Senior Jennifer Webster (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) led the Ravens with 13 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Maria Clifton (New York City, N.Y./Saint Michael's H.S.) added a season-best eight points and five rebounds. The Ravens struggled on offense in the first half, shooting a dismal 24.2% from the field and 16.7% from long range. The Warriors took advantage and built an eight-point lead heading into the intermission on 34.4% shooting from the floor and a blistering 55.6% from the three-point arc. Merrimack took total control of the game with a 20-7 run three minutes into the second half, capped by a Martin three-pointer, to build a 24-point lead (58-33) by the 7:05 mark.
