Junior Tara Bligh led the Ravens with 12 points, three rebounds and three steals against the Falcons

Bentley Trounces Franklin Pierce, 70-45

WALTHAM, MASS. (December 4, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce women's basketball team fell to Bentley College, 70-45 in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball action at the Dana Center this evening.

Junior Keri Flynn led the Falcons with 19 points and two steals, while classmate Becky Davidson totaled 15 points, four rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore Chante Bonds recorded 12 points and a game-high six assists.

The Ravens were led by junior Tara Bligh (Milton, Mass./Milton) who registered 12 points, three rebounds and three steals. Freshman Kristi Powlovich (Jericho, Vt./Mount Mansfield) added nine points, while classmate Heather Jacobs (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) led the defense with six rebounds.

The Falcons led by just three points with seven minutes left in the first half, but scored 12-straight points to cap a 17-2 run and take a 36-18 lead heading into the break.

After the intermission, Bentley continued to take advantage of the Ravens, scoring the first six points to stretch the advantage to 24. The Ravens fought back with a 14-6 run over a span of six minutes, but the Falcons answered with a 15-2 run of their own to extend the lead and make the final, 70-45.

Franklin Pierce (2-2, 0-2 NE-10) next hosts Merrimack College in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday at The Winchendon School Gymnasium at 4 p.m. Bentley (6-2, 3-0 NE-10) next travels to UMass Lowell for a League contest at 2 p.m.
