Pierce Rolls Over Teikyo Post, 94-39 BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (November 23, 2002) - The Franklin Pierce women's basketball advanced to the championship game of the Bridgeport Purple Knight Classic and will look for a third-straight title with a 94-39 victory over Teikyo Post University at the Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium this afternoon. Franklin Pierce (1-0) will face the winner of today's second game between University of Bridgeport and Mercy College on Sunday night at 6 p.m. Teikyo Post will face the loser of that match-up in consolation round action at 2 p.m. Franklin Pierce senior Jennifer Webster (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) led the way with a game-high 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor, three-for-seven from three-point range, and a 7-9 effort at the line. Junior Susan Ocitti (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge R&L) registered a double-double, scoring 20 points, on 8-11 shooting from the floor, and a game-high ten rebounds. Junior Tara Bligh (Milton, Mass./Milton) chipped in nine points and dished a career-best eight assists, while classmate Erin Bailey (N. Grafton, Mass./Nashua (N.H.)) netted ten points. |
