SYRACUSE, N.Y.
(February 24, 2002) - Sixth-seeded Le Moyne College
never trailed as it posted a 77-55 victory over No. 11 Franklin Pierce University
in Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball
Tournament First Round action at Ted Grant Court this afternoon.
Le Moyne (18-9) advances
to the NE-10 Quarterfinals, where it will face third-seeded
Bentley College on Tuesday night in Waltham, Mass., at 7
p.m. Franklin Pierce, who was making its first NE-10 Tournament
appearance in two seasons, wraps up its year with a 13-17
overall mark.
Junior guard Shalyn
Polinski led Le Moyne with a game-high 20 points, on eight-of-15
shooting from the floor (4-6 from three-point range), seven
rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Senior Regan Burns
added 14 points, as she hit 6-8 from the field and 2-3 three-pointers,
four rebounds and four assists. Junior
Stacy Schrader grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along
with nine points and five blocked shots, while sophomore
Jennifer Feher chipped in ten points, eight boards (three
offensive), seven assists and three steals.

Webster (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) led Franklin
Pierce with 18 points (all first half), four rebounds and
three steals. Senior Emily Liskow (Strafford, N.H./Coe-Brown)
totaled 13 points, three assists and two steals, while classmate
Amina Robinson (Hyde Park, Mass./Jeremiah Burke)
chipped in 11 points, six rebounds (four offensive),
three assists and two steals.

trailed by just
four points (38-34) at the intermission, but Le Moyne connected
on 66.7-percent (16-24) of its shots from the field, including
3-5 from long-distance, to outscore the Ravens by a 39-21
margin in the second half. FP
hit just 30.3% (10-33) of
its shots in the second half, going 0-8 from three-point
range. Le Moyne also enjoyed a 48-28 margin on the glass.
Le Moyne (18-9) outscored
the Ravens 15-0 to open the game and 12-0 in the first two
minutes of the second half. After taking a four-point lead
into the intermission, Le Moyne turned it into a 50-34 cushion
thanks to the 12-0 spurt.
