Holds Off Saint Rose, 54-48
Ravens hold Knights to 29.1% shooting;
Robinson nets 7th-straight double-double

8, 2001) - Franklin Pierce University
held The College
of Saint Rose to a 29.1-percent (16-55) shooting effort
from the field - 26.9% (7-26) in the second half - to post
a 54-48 victory in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball
action at the FP
Fieldhouse this afternoon.
Franklin Pierce never
trailed on the afternoon en route to its third straight
Conference victory, building a ten-point lead (18-8) 5:24
into the game. The Ravens lead grew to 13 (24-11) at the
10:38-mark, capped by a runner from senior Amina Robinson
(Hyde Park, Mass./Jeremiah Burke).
Saint Rose fought
back with an 11-0 run, sparked by ten points from junior
Amanda Young, to pull within 24-22 with 1:12 remaining in
the half.
A three-pointer by
Bianca Wright trimmed the FP
lead to one (26-15) to open
the second half, but the Ravens reeled off a 10-0 run to
take a 36-25 lead 4:19 into the stanza. Robinson sparked
the run with a pair of lay-ins.
The FP
lead grew
to 12 (45-33) after a pair of free-throws from junior
Jennifer Webster (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) with
7:15 to play.
Saint Rose would not
go away and used a 15-4 run to cut the FP
lead to one (49-48)
with 1:13 to play. Junior guard Liz Coughlin (Somerset,
Mass./Somerset) sparked the rally with a pair of three-pointers.
The Ravens iced the victory with three
free-throws in the final minute.
Robinson recorded
her seventh-straight double-double of the season (eighth
total) as she totaled 12 points and ten rebounds off the
bench. Webster led all Ravens scorers with 14 points to
go along with six rebounds. Senior Emily Liskow (Strafford,
N.H./Coe-Brown) chipped in ten points and five assists.
Franklin Pierce shot
just 37.3% (22-59) from the field on the afternoon, including
a paltry 6.7% (1-15) from three-point range, but turned
the ball over just eight times.
Saint Rose, who was
held to its lowest shooting percentage of the season, was
led by Young, who recorded her third double-double in her
last four games, with 14 points and 11 rebounds to go along
with two blocks. Coughlin added 12 points, aided by a 4-7
effort from long-distance, five rebounds and three assists.
Junior Kristin Zeh,
who torched FP
for 25 points in CSR’s season-opening 79-62
win on November 20, was limited to five points but hauled
in a game-high 12 boards and added three steals. She netted
31 points in a Saint Rose victory at the FP
Fieldhouse
last season.

returns to action Wednesday when they travel to in-state
rival Saint Anselm College for a game at 5:30 p.m. Saint
Rose (2-4, 2-4 NE-10) travels to Le Moyne College on December
19 at 5:30 p.m.
