COLCHESTER, Vt.
(January 21, 2002) - Junior forward Jennifer Webster
(Braintree, Mass./Braintree) netted a career-high
30 points to lead Franklin Pierce University
to an 81-76 win
over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference
women's basketball action at the Ross Sports Center tonight.
Webster drained ten-of-14
shots from the floor, including all five three-point attempts,
to lead all scorers on the night. She also hit 5-7 from
the free-throw line and grabbed five rebounds.
Webster's hot shooting
was contagious, as FP
shot 51.7-percent (31-60) from the
field for the night. Senior Amina Robinson (Hyde Park,
Mass./Jeremiah Burke) registered her NE-10 leading
12th double-double of the season as she totaled 17 points
and ten rebounds.
Classmate Emily
Liskow (Strafford, N.H./Coe-Brown) chipped in 15
points on 6-10 shooting from the field, while freshman Allison
Flynn (Salem, Mass./Salem) dished a season-high
eight assists and snared three steals.
The Ravens never trailed
on the night, but had to withstand a Saint Michael's comeback
from 13-points down to seal the win. FP
built an eight-point
halftime lead (42-34) and after the Purple Knights trimmed
the lead to five (48-43) just five minutes into the second
half, the Ravens answered with an 8-0 run over the next
four minutes to take its largest lead of the game (56-43)
with 11:22 to play. Flynn and classmate Patricia Lang
(Monroe, N.H./Saint Johnsbury Academy) each converted
conventional three-point plays during the run.
Saint Mike's trimmed
the lead back to five points (56-51) with an 8-0 rally of
its own over the next 1:30, sparked by a pair of three-pointers
from sophomore Jessica Hanchette.
After FP
regained
a double-figure advantage (64-53) with 8:34 to play after
a jumper by Liskow, Saint Michael's fought all the way back
to knot the score at 68-68 with 4:17 on the clock with a
15-4 run. Junior Jess Hambley led the way with two three-pointers
and a conventional three-point play to go along with an
assist.
However, FP
regained
control with a 9-0 run, capped by a Webster trifecta, and
iced the win and series sweep of SMC by hitting its last
eight free-throw attempts over the final seven minutes of
play.
Hambley finished with
17 points on the night, while junior Liz LeFebvre registered
a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds (nine offensive).

hosts Saint Anselm College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Saint
Michael's (5-11, 2-11 NE-10) travels to Southern New Hampshire
