Concordia, 59-48

D’Ettorre’s 16 points, eight rebounds 
leads Ravens to sixth-straight win

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (December 14, 2005) – Franklin Pierce collected its sixth-straight victory with a 59-48 decision over Concordia College in non-conference women’s basketball action at the Meyer Athletic Center tonight.

            Junior Danielle D’Ettorre (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario/St. Mary’s) led Franklin Pierce with 16 points, eight rebounds (four offensive) and two steals. Freshman Jennifer Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England) added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while sophomore Josie Lidke (Chaska, Minn./Chaska) registered 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Junior Nicola Dalton (Danbury, Conn./Ridgefield) chipped in with eight rebounds.

            Senior Katie Reynolds (Monroe, Conn.) led Concordia with 16 points and three rebounds, while classmate Pam Karagiorgos (Norwalk, Conn.) added 14 points and five rebounds.

            Franklin Pierce out-rebounded Concordia 40-29 for the contest and held the hosts to 32.1-percent shooting (17-53), including 8-for-26 (30.8%) in the second half.            


Sophomore Josie Lidke added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Ravens held a pair of eight point leads in the first half, including a 23-15 advantage after a Maria Clifton (New York, N.Y./St. Michael’s Academy) jumper with 6:22 left in the stanza. Concordia closed within a bucket (23-21) with 3:02 left in the opening half, but Leedham hit a three and canned two free throws to put the Ravens back up seven before settling for a five-point (28-23) halftime cushion.

            The Clippers opened the second half with an 8-2 run to take a one-point lead (31-30) after a Reynolds jumper 2:08 into the frame. Franklin Pierce regained an eight-point edge (43-35) with a 10-2 run after a Lidke three-pointer with 12:58 left.

            Concordia made another run, closing within two points (43-41) after a Karagiorgos hoop with 8:57 to play. However, the Ravens posted an 8-0 run to open their first double-digit lead (51-41) after a free throw from Stephanie Bergeron (Pointe Claire, Quebec/Dawson College) and they iced the win from the line down the stretch. 

Franklin Pierce (7-3, 4-1 NE-10) is off until the New Year, when it hosts Pace University on Monday, January 2, at 5:30 p.m. Concordia (4-7, 3-2 NYCAC) visits LIU-C.W. Post on January 11.
