Saint Anselm Sweeps Franklin Pierce, 9-0MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 6, 2008) – The Saint Anselm College women’s tennis team swept all nine matches to earn a 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks were led by the duo of juniors Laura Nason (Shelton, Conn./St. George’s (R.I.)) and McAul Lindermuth (Pepperell, Mass./North Middlesex), who each won a pair of matches at the top of the Saint Anselm lineup. After the duo earned an 8-1 victory at first doubles, Nason did not lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of sophomore Erin Whyman (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post West) at first singles and Lindermuth took a 6-1, 6-1 second-singles win over sophomore Mariana Zahora (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua). Senior Jessie Brennan (Cheshire, Conn./Sacred Heart) and freshman Erika Sartor (Andover, Mass./Andover) also earned a pair of victories each for Saint Anselm, teaming up for a second-doubles win before earning victories at third and fourth singles, respectively. Franklin Pierce (0-12, 0-9 NE-10) returns home for the first of three consecutive matches in Rindge on Tuesday at 3 p.m. against the College of Saint Rose.
