American International Defeats Franklin Pierce, 6-3RINDGE, N.H. (April 11, 2008) – American International College collected a 6-3 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women’s tennis action this afternoon. American International led 2-1 after doubles play and then proceeded to take the top four singles matches to clinch the win. Senior Lindsay Wolfe (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) and juniors Sarah Pfefferkorn (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow), Sara Strzempek (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke CC) and Tyler Rockefeller (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfield) were all double winners for the Yellow Jackets. Pfefferkorn collected wins at No. 1 singles and doubles for AIC, while Strzempek notched wins at No. 2 singles and first doubles. Juniors Kathleen Judge (Lowell, Mass./Lowell Catholic) and Francesca Santoro (Medford, Mass./Medford) were both double-winners for Franklin Pierce. Judge posted an 8-1 in at No. 6 singles, while Santoro posted a 9-7 triumph at No. 5 singles after the two combined for an 8-2 decision at third doubles. Franklin Pierce (0-14, 0-11 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Stonehill College at 3 p.m. American International (2-6, 2-6 NE-10) hosts Saint Michael’s College tomorrow at 1 p.m.
