Florida Southern Moccasin Classic Franklin
Pierce Drops Pair on Day One LAKELAND,
Fla. (Sept. 2, 2005) – Franklin Pierce dropped both season-opening matches
on day one of the 2005 Florida Southern Moccasin Classic this
afternoon. Franklin Pierce began the day with
a 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-12) setback to Eckerd College. Senior Andrea
Krystan (Servena Park, Md.) led the attack for the Tritons,
collecting 12 kills in 21 total attacks (.571 pct) with no errors and
two aces. Sophomore Shannon Ruby (Littleton, Colorado)
added a match-high 25 assists, two service aces and five digs.
Freshman Caroline Ehorn
(Orange,
Conn./Amity Regional) led Franklin Pierce as she dished 17 assists to go
with eight digs in her collegiate debut, while classmate Nichole
Bucholz (Ashburn,
Va./Stone Bridge)
contributed eight kills, four digs, and one ace in her first
collegiate match. Junior captain Michelle McConnell (Elora,
Ontario/Centre Wellington) pitched in with five kills, two
aces and nine digs. In its second match of the day,
Franklin Pierce fell to host Florida Southern, ranked No. 15 in the
CSTV/AVCA Division II preseason coaches poll, 3-0 (30-19, 30-19,
30-21). Florida Southern junior Leinani
Bernabe (Arvada, Colo./Arvada) collected 14 kills in 20 total
attacks (.650 pct), one service ace, and three digs.
Classmate Jordan McAfee (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins)
aided the Moccasin attack with 25 assists and seven digs.
Freshman Emily Shultz (Salem,
Wis./Central Westosha) led the Ravens with 12 kills, and nine
digs. Classmate Karissa
Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) tallied
25 assists, three digs and two kills in the Ravens loss.
