MANCHESTER, N.H. (Nov. 4, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce volleyball
team sustained a 3-1 (27-30, 30-28, 30-23, 30-24) loss to host Saint
Anselm College in non-conference action tonight. The Ravens took the
first game before dropping three straight to the Hawks in their season
finale. With the loss, Franklin Pierce concluded its season with an
overall record of 11-13 (6-8 NE-10). Saint Anselm ended its regular
season with a record of 15-22 (7-7 NE-10).
Senior
co-captain Briana Bates (Belmont, N.H./Endicott College)
tallied 15 kills and seven blocks in her final collegiate match, while
fellow co-captain Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School)
ended her junior season with a 20 dig effort. The Ravens received a
solid performance from junior outside hitter Jessica Ward
(Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) who notched nine digs and eight
kills. Freshman setter Bria Williams (Chino Valley, Ariz./Chino
Valley) racked up 43 assists despite the loss.
Saint
Anselm will participate in a Northeast-10 Quarterfinal match on
Friday, November 11.
