Sophomore Christina Collett led the Ravens to a 3-1 victory over American International on Thursday, snapping a ten match home winning streak for the Yellow Jackets.

Ravens earn road victory with total team effort

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (Sept. 16, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce volleyball team picked up a 3-1 (30-27, 29-31, 30-21, 30-26) victory over host American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening, breaking a ten match home winning streak for the Yellow Jackets. With the win, the Ravens improve their record to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Sophomore outside hitter Christina Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) led the Ravens with 19 kills and 4 aces, while senior outside hitter Briana Bates (Belmont, N.H./Endicott College) contributed 17 kills and a season-high seven blocks. Setter Bria Williams (Chino Valley, Ariz./Chino Valley) had a productive all-around match, totaling 50 assists, five kills and seven digs. Leading the defense for the Ravens was junior defensive specialist Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School),who chipped in with 30 digs.

Franklin Pierce (3-6, 2-3 NE-10) will next be in action on Tuesday, as they return home for a Northeast-10 Conference match versus Bentley College beginning at 7 p.m. American International (1-5, 1-2 NE-10) will also be in action on Tuesday, as they travel to Stonehill College for a conference match at 7 p.m.
